Then Gandolf trusts him to hold the ring, because he knows Frodo is just a big homo and won't want power or anything, just a pretty ring. In the first movie Sam wants to go talk to a girl and Frodo gives him advice on how to go over, first sign of his gayness. See Frodo is a flaming homosexual, poor Sam is just along for the ride. They are MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think they're as GAY AS HELL COULD MAKE THEM!!!! I think the film makers were trying to point out the gay-ness, otherwise they would have skirted around the whole issue! Hmmm, I don't think hobbits do… How often did you see Merry confide in Pippin about his sexual inadequacies (you can just tell), or Frodo ask Sam to give him a face mask, paint his nails and watch A Knight's Tale with him (classic girly night in behaviour)? Huh? Huh?! Guys don't have the same closeness with friends as girls do… Especially not Hobbits… Plus there was no mention of sex and the city or designer labels or anything and i never noticed either one checking their reflection/hair in a puddle/the back of a cd/anything shiny, so clearly they are nothing like my mate barry the epitome of gayness, and therefore are not gay. If they were girls would you think they were lesbians or just really nice good friends? However, I have discovered indisputable proof on this matter, check it out here: link This is an interesting question that has baffled literary critics for over a generation. I think it's more about love between them, than sexuality. I think it's worse in the film because you can actually see their facial expressions towards each other, whereas you have to use your own imagination with the book, and you might not imagine them to be gay. I don't think they were originally intended to be gay, but Tolkien doesn't do a good job of trying to back this up. I could have sworn they were going to snog on the dock at the end of Return of the King! Tolkein denied this though, but he was a smug twatty male chauvinist English teacher, so who really cares what he said anyway Oh, and Thomas: its a parable of the SECOND world war. Needless to say, we didn't make it passed half way through Two Towers, due in equal parts to alcohol and boredom. Use of the word "Mordorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"ĭown your drink on "They have a cave troll" One of the conditions for drinking was "a gay look between frodo and sam" Me and some mates watched the first 2 back to back as a drinking game last year. This is total and utter codswallop! It is a parable of the first world war, Tolkein was pot addict, its got big flaming eyes, and norweign kings, why would sam and frodo be gay? Sam is in fact, a one man army of awesomeness. Amazon, lord of the rings, Peter Jackson, J.R.R.Frodo could well be gay, but Sam just appeases him in order to stop him getting depressed. After that, fans await their first look at Amazon’s incoming Lord of the Rings series. While the trilogy may be done now, the movies are set to take the spotlight again this December 1 when the 4K release of The Lord of the Rings becomes available. No doubt it’s this top tearjerker scene where Sam promises to stay by Frodo, but I could be wrong: Astin doesn’t really say which scene he was working on at the time, but he does say that it was during a scene from Fellowship of the Ring. While Astin did say that he was hurt from what Jackson said, it was the necessary push he needed to give a more believable performance. It was true that I was not invested, that I was out of it. It was like he ripped my hair off of my body, and my spine came out with. Mostly his direction would be, ‘Let’s do it again.’ … But he came up to me at one point and he looked at me and he said, ‘I just didn’t believe that.’ Oh my God, he might as well have - it was like a Mortal Kombat death blow. He sort of lets the work do the talking, and his direction was always very minimal. But on a day-to-day basis, Peter Jackson is basically like a quiet guy. He can act things out, and he’s very eloquent and so forth. He can be performative when he wants to, or needs to. “The most painful thing Peter Jackson ever said to me… you know, he’s a man of few words. Talking to the Reelblendpodcast, Astin shares how Jackson was forced to be blunt with in order to get the best possible performance. As it turns out, director Peter Jackson had to break Sean Astin’s heart to get him to deliver the acting chops. Probably one of the best performances in The Lord of the Rings trilogy is that of Sean Astin’s Samwise Gamgee, and though a lot of people like to make fun about the implied homosexuality between Sam and Frodo, you can’t help but believe that the performance was sincere.
